MITHI, Nov 7: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the issue of teaching Sindhi in educational institutions has been blown out of proportion by some vested interests for their ulterior motives.
He said the issue would be settled amicably and if needed, a meeting of educational experts and technocrats as well as an all-party conference would be called for seeking befitting solution of the issue. The chief minister was talking to newsmen in Dhodharo near Naokot on Sunday.
“Being national and provincial languages, Urdu and Sindhi languages have their own importance and we will sit together to solve the issue under reference according to the consensus of all the quarters”, he said.
“The entire nation now a days has been extending its helping hand for the settlement of earthquake victims and leaving apart such small issues of language”, Mr Arbab said.
Replying to a question, the chief minister said the relations between India and Pakistan were improving and if the chief minister of Rajasthan would visit Sindh he would also visit Rajasthan after reopening of the Khokhropar route.
Arbab Ghulam Rahim said that the prime minister had announced the Thar package of Rs12 billion and long-term as well as medium-term development projects had been included in it.
“The district nazim has been directed to complete the survey of the district soon as the relevant areas can be declared as calamity hit”, Mr Arbab said.
The chief minister on the occasion assured a delegation of journalists of the Mirpurkhas press club who apprised him of the arrest and release of a journalist Zubair Mujahid that a thorough probe would be conducted in the matter and action would be initiated against those found responsible for violating the law.
SUBSTANDAD MATERIAL: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Dr Ghulam Rahim has taken a notice of substandard material used in various development projects and warned the works and services department to ensure use of quality material.
He said that stern action would be initiated against the engineers found responsible for use of substandard material.
These views were expressed by the chief minister while inspecting a number of roads of Diplo taluka on Sunday.
The chief minister expressed dissatisfaction on the poor quality work on a road from his village Khetlari to Ghulam Mohammad village road.
He issued transfer orders of an engineer and SDO, besides warned Habibullah Memon, superintendent engineer, provincial highways department, Mirpurkhas, directing him to supervise personally the ongoing projects.
The chief minister ordered the relevant functionaries for the re-carpeting of Khetlari to Ghulam Mohammad road.
A large number of people, including MNA Arbab Zakaullah, and adviser to chief minister, Manzoor Shah were present on the occasion.
