KARACHI: 3 shot dead in separate incidents

KARACHI, Nov 6: Two young men were shot dead during armed hold-ups on the eve of Eidul Fitr (Thursday) in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Shah Faisal Colony.

Mohammad Shoaib, 25, an engineer in the National Logistic Cell, took his sisters and mother to a tailoring shop near Hollywood Bakery in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. As he and his mother were waiting in their car, two persons on a motorcycle pulled up and demanded cash and cellphone from Shoaib.

As his mother came out of the car and started raising alarm, they asked her to hand over her gold chain to them. The suspects shot Shoaib in the abdomen and fled. He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead after initial treatment.

In another incident, a young man was shot dead in Shah Faisal Colony on the same evening.

Police said that the Faisalabad based trader Syed Zaheer Abbas, 26, was intercepted by armed youths in Shah Faisal Colony near the Chota Gate. As the victim tried to put up resistance, the suspects pumped several bullets and snatched away his cellphone before fleeing.

In another incident, Abdul Qadir, 30, was shot dead by unknown persons at the Shah Baig Lane in the limits of Baghdadi police station on Saturday. The victim was an auto mechanic.

BODY FOUND: Body of a young man was recovered from the SITE area on Sunday. Police said that the body bore a bullet wound in the head. The victim was clad in Shalwar kameez.

DIES: A 12-year-old boy died and a young man was seriously wounded when a gas cylinder being used to fill up the balloons exploded in the Lines area on Friday.

Police said that Junaid, 12, died and Sohail who was passing on the motorcycle was wounded when the cylinder exploded. The balloon seller remained unhurt in the incident.

ROBBERY: Bandits barged into a house in North Nazimabad and escaped with cash and valuables worth up to Rs4 million on Friday.

Police said that the owner of the house Khawaja Shamim Ahmed had gone to his native town in Mandi Bahauddin. On early morning on the Eid day, four suspects barged into the house tied up the servants and escaped after collecting cash and valuables including gold ornaments.
