DSP booked for violating police order

SAHIWAL, Nov 3: Farid Town police on Thursday registered a case against a DSP (investigation), crimes branch, Multan, for violation of Police Order 2002 on the orders of additional district & sessions judge Khalid Naveed Dar.

Former PPP’s Kot Khadim Ali president Aslam Baggu, his accomplices — Aslam Bhatti, Hasan Zaheer, Ghani Pathan and Zaheer Shah had killed ex-councillor Amir Shah and shopkeeper Asghar Ferozepuri in Kot Allahdin on April 23, 2004. Police had registered a case against all the accused.

The AIG had assigned the inquiry of the case to DSP Masood Javed. The DSP after recording statements of witnesses, including Asif Ali, favoured the accused party violating sections 155 & 166 of the police order.

Aggrieved Asif Ali when approached the police for registration of a case against the DSP Masood Javed, they refused him to do so. At this, Asif Ali filed a writ petition in the court of the additional district and sessions judge.

The court after hearing the case ordered the registration of a case against the DSP.

The accused DSP has not been arrested so far.

PROTEST: Staff nurses of the local DHQ Hospital have strongly protested against the discriminatory treatment being meted out to them.

They said that medical officers were allowed to avail Eid leaves while nurses were denied the facility although minority community nurses were assigned Eid duties.

An emergent meeting of nurses was held in the DHQ Hospital in which the decision of the medical superintendent was strongly condemned.
