BADIN, Nov 3: A large number of students of the University of Sindh may lose one academic year due to class teachers and department chairmen who had recommended to the administration for denying appearance of students in examination on the pretext of short attendance in classes.
The parents who had cleared university dues and paid examination fees for the final semester, have appealed to Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui to reconsider all affected students and their absence be condoned by taking into consideration facts of violence on the campus and closer of hostels.
Khadim Hussain, a retired teacher welcomed the new attendance system being introduced by the Sindh University which he believed would be transparent one. He said the past practice of attendance was in the hands of class teacher who could use his one stroke of pen to spoil the future of the student.
Mohammad Hussain, father of a student said that it was surprizing that those students who were accommodated in the hostels were regularly attending lectures shown absent by the teacher.
Had a student who attended lectures of various subjects daily could lose his sense for not attending the major class of his class teacher for his better attendance, he asked.
