MADRID, Nov 3: After burning the midnight oil, Spain’s parliament voted early on Thursday in favour of a controversial proposed statute to give greater autonomy to the wealthy northeastern region of Catalonia.
Legislators approved the statute by 197 votes to 146, with one abstention.
Spain’s prime minister defended the statute which will bestow greater autonomy on the wealthy region.—AFP
