Shopkeepers arrested for overcharging

SAHIWAL, Oct 30: At least 18 shopkeepers were arrested for overcharging and not displaying price lists at Gamber Adda here on Sunday. Fines totalling Rs30,000 were imposed on 27 shopkeepers for overcharging.

Those who were arrested include Nasir Ali, Irfan, Sabir Akbar, Muhammad Ashraf, Rashid Ahmed, Irfan Husain, Rashid, Muhammad Ali, Parvez, Ghulam Nabi, Ishtiaq, Akbar Khan, Muhammad Amin, Khurram, Nasir Ali and Yaqoob.

Yousafwala police have registered separate cases against them under the price control act and sent them to the Central Jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

ARRESTED: Sahiwal police claimed to have arrested 12 proclaimed offenders, eight court absconders and an army deserter during a general hold-up here on Saturday night.

A police spokesman said that around 11 people were also arrested for keeping illicit arms.
