DADU, Oct 20: Officials of the Hyderabad Electricity Corporation, Hesco, have sought help of the district government, Dadu, to recover outstanding dues and reduce line losses in the district which is reported to have shot up to 45 per cent.

Hesco’s executive engineer Ghulam Hussain Samo informed the district nazim, Dadu, that line losses were 45 per cent in the district owing to unauthorized connections.

The meeting was presided over by the District Nazim, Kareem Ali Jatoi, which was attended by the officers of the federal and provincial government departments at the district council hall here on Thursday.

The executive engineer also said that line losses and power theft could be controlled if the district government helped them.

The district nazim said that a separate meeting of Hesco officials would be held and the district government would cooperate with them in this regard.

The EDO Health, Dr Dhani Bux Thebo, informed the meeting that there was acute shortage of medicines, staff and doctors in the hospitals of the district.

He said the government was releasing funds for 30 medical health facilities while the EDO health was providing medicine to 92 health facilities throughout the district.

He said that 20,000 injections to treat leishmaniasis patients were available at the EDO Health office, while more injections should be provided to check spread of this disease in the coming months.

The EDO works and services, Mohammad Ali Memon, said that Rs63 million were spent on the development schemes.

The EDO education, Professor Abdul Jaleel Akhund said that the appointments would be made on basis of merit.

He said that funds of SMC should be used properly and shortage of furniture should be eradicated.

The DCO, Mr Aijaz Ahmed Mangi said that all development schemes would be completed under policy of the district nazim.

On this occasion, executive engineer southern division, Mohammad Mithal Abbasi said that there was shortage of water in Dadu.
