KARACHI, Oct 12: The condition of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) leader, Dr Imdad Baloch, whose fast-unto-death strike entered the 10th day on Wednesday, deteriorated further.

He was being administered drip at the camp set up in front of the Karachi Press Club. He went on hunger strike on Oct 3 to protest against the disappearance of BSO activists allegedly picked up by government agencies.

The BSO leader accused certain government agencies of planning and kidnapping of as many as 20 activists of the organization, and claimed that they had reportedly been tortured by investigating agencies.

Expressing concern for the safety of Allah Nazar, Akhtar Nadeem and Dr Allah Nazar, who are being ill-treated in custody, he called for their immediate release and an impartial investigation into the alleged torture and ill-treatment of the BSO activists.

Dr Imdad also expressed concern over the indifferent attitude of Baloch nationalist leaders over the disappearance of BSO activists, saying they had disappointed the Baloch people.

Despite his falling health, the BSO leader said he would continue his hunger-strike till all detained members of the organization were released.

He said the reign of terror of government agencies could be judged from the fact that Ali Asghar Bangalzai, a tailor, had also disappeared following his arrest in Oct 2001 on alleged charges of having connections with the BSO.

The BSO leader said family members of Bangalzai were on hunger-strike in Quetta.
