Shufflers gear up for Bermuda Bowl

KARACHI, Oct 11: Pakistani shufflers are gearing up for the Bermuda Bowl-World bridge championship to be held at Estoril, Portugal from Oct 22 to Nov 5, says a spokesman for Pakistan Bridge Federation on Tuesday.

Pakistan women’s team, Pakistan Seniors, Allana and Hadi, who will take part in the championship, are preparing for the event through warm-up matches.

They are due to leave for Portugal on Oct 20.

Interestingly Candyland failed to qualify for Bermuda Bowl after losing in the semifinal of Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) in Dhaka (Bangladesh) earlier this year.

Pakistan’s women team comprising Abida Ali, Teeta Agha, Zeenat Azwer, Mrs Rasheed, Rehana Saigol, Samia Rasheed and Shireen Bukhari will figure in the main event.

Rashidul Ghazi, Tariq Rasheed Khan, Pervez Mirza, Yousuf Talpur, Masood Mazhar and Hasan Jawad will play in Seniors Bowl while Data Steel, Allana and Hadi will participate in Trans National mix event.

Allana is made up of A R Allana, Jan-e-Alam Fazli, Sarfraz Ahmed and Muhammad, and Hadi comprises Khurshid Hadi, Kemal Shoaib, Javaid Ahmed and Sajid Isphani.—APP
