PESHAWAR, Oct 5: The Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, has said that the varsity in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission was in the process of bringing about drastic changes in its teaching facilities.

Speaking at the orientation day and reception hosted for newly-admitted students on Wednesday, the VC said that with HEC’s full support, the university is introducing a lot of positive changes in its technical and teaching facilities and improving the standards of education.

The university, he said, had been given maximum funding to generate development projects among 60 universities of the country, helping in bringing back the research culture in the university.

He said higher education was the only driving force, which will take the country to a high road of development, while the knowledge of engineering and technology will help to attain sustainable development, therefore will certainly improve the national economy.

The vice chancellor briefed students about disciplinary and conduct rules of the university. He said, he would take strict action against those who violate the university rules.

Regarding semester system, he said that the university is successfully running semester system, which has made compulsory for students to complete their credit hours based on theory and laboratory work.

Dr Waqar Ali Syed, Director Undergraduate Studies informed that UET for the first time has handed over a complete “academic calendar” and course outline of each semester to students through which they will know about complete academic plan. He further said that 700 students had joined NWFP UET this year.

EXAMINATION: Meanwhile, the UET has notified for the information of all concerned that the final year examination (supplementary 2004) of the NWFP UET, Peshawar will commence from Nov 19.

Last dates for submission of examination admission forms and fee in the office of the Controller of Examination NWFP UET Peshawar are as:

Last date without late fee for re-appearing candidates, is fixed as Oct 20 (Thursday) while Oct 27 (Thursday) is fixed as last date for submission of forms with late fee. It is further notified that no admission form shall be entertained after the due dates given above.
