KARACHI: Teachers’ Day observed


KARACHI, Oct 5: The Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi, Dr Ikhlaq Ahmed, has said teachers should present themselves as role models for students because they were the second major source of inspiration for children after parents.

He said this at a seminar organised to mark the World Teachers Day by the All Pakistan Government School Teachers Association (APGSTA) on Wednesday.

He said teachers must upgrade their knowledge in accordance with national requirements, and seminar and workshops could play a vital role in that regard.

Speaking as the chief guest, Executive District Officer (EDO), Karachi Abdul Wahab said the government had been paying active attention to the education sector and was making efforts on priority basis for educational development in the country.

Later, certificates, shields and medals were distributed among teachers and students for their extraordinary performances.

Chairman Dhaka Group of Institutions Syed Azfar Ahmed Rizvi, Director Administration, Aga Khan University Dr Muhammad Memon, Director Hino Pak Motors Faseehul Kareem Siddiqui, General Secretary APGSTA and Abrar Hussain also spoke.—APP
