Rashid slams century

KARACHI, Sept 20: Opener Rashid Ali slammed a fine hundred but Ahmed Zeeshan missed his century on the opening day of their two-day penultimate round of PCB Inter-district senior cricket championship on Tuesday. Joint leader Liaquatabad-Gulshan Zone recovered to post 294 all-out in 75.4 overs at Students ground after electing to bat first against Nazimabad and Asifabad Zone.

Zone-I were reeling at 16 for two and 143 for five at one stage.

Rashid braced his team with 20 boundaries and a six in his enterprising knock of 128 off 153 balls in 202 minutes. Tahir Khan hit a fighting 59 laced with five fours and a six.

Pacers Nasir Khan and Tariq Haroon took a pair of wickets each to reduce Zone-VII to 21 for four in 12 overs.

Old Karachi Zone piled up 324 all-out in 85.4 overs at Landhi Gymkhana ground against Landhi-Korangi Zone with Ahmed Zeeshan out on 97 laced with eight fours.

Agha Sabir struck 57 with six fours and a six and Afsar Nawaz made 55 with the aid of four fours and two sixes. The hosts in reply were 18 without loss.

In the other match at TMC ground, Malir-Shah Faisal Zone were dismissed for 216 against North Nazimabad-Orangi Zone, who in reply were on 32-2.
