LARKANA, Sept 20: The People’s Party Parliamentarian has claimed enjoying support of 260 councillors enough to win seat of the district nazim. Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, PPP district president Ayaz Soomro and nazim candidate Moazzam Abbasi termed the claim of government-backed party as untrue and said they were deceiving the people.

The PPP leaders criticized PML leader Haji Altaf Unnar for violating the election commission rules and said he was frequently using official vehicle in electioneering.

They said voters of the Awam Dost Panel were being harassed by the DPO Larkana.

They said false cases were being registered against them and their relatives in government services were being harassed by state agencies.

The PPP leaders said within four years’ period a record development work to the tune of Rs25 crores was carried out in the undivided Larkana district.

They said posting of a new DCO spoke of ill-intention of the government to rigging polls in the third phase.

They asked officers to stick to laws while discharging duties and desist from obliging unlawful orders of the government.

On the occasion, five independent councillors from union councils 7, 9 and Fatehpur joined camp of the ADP.

They include Ashfaque Sangi, Tanveer Kutchi, Sagir Kutchi, Husna Abro and Piyari Gopang.

Ali Dino Kango, naib nazim from UC Fatehpur said he was in touch with Ali Gul Sangi, nazim of the union council and hoped he would return to the ADP fold.

The PPP leaders said soon more councillors would join ADP’s camp.

They said tough fight was expected in Bakrani, Dokri and Nasirabad talukas only while ADP candidates would win rest of positions in Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts.
