ARD fields candidates for Mandi posts

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Sept 7: The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy under Zila Dost banner announced joint candidates for top slots of the district and its tehsils on Tuesday evening. According to the announcement, former district nazim Nazar Mohammad Gondal and Jamaat-i-Islami nazim Khalid Mehmood Sahi will be the alliance’s candidates for district nazim and naib-nazim slots, respectively. PML-N district president Dewaan Mushtaq Ahmed and Ehsaan Ullah will contest for Mandi Bahauddin tehsil nazim and naib-nazim, while former Malikwala tehsil nazim Nadeem Afzal Gondal will contest for the same slot and Shahid Raza Ranjha will be the candidate for Phalia tehsil nazim.

At a press briefing, PPP district president Mohammad Tariq Tarar, former Punjab minister Haji Afzal, PML-N district chief Dewaan Mushtaq Ahmed, MMA Punjab secretary Allama Syed Mehfooz Mashhadi and JI district Ameer Syed Ijaz Khayyali said that ARD candidates had presented themselves for public accountability.

The leaders said people were well aware of the character of the ruling PML candidates and they would not let such persons occupy the prestigious offices.

PMA: PMA’s local chapter met here on Wednesday with its senior vice-president Dr Akthar Javed Tabassum in chair and its members expressed grave concern over the FIR against association’s district chief Dr Tariq Mehmood Chaddher allegedly on political basis.

The body urged immediate withdrawal of the case against its chief and warned of agitation if their demand was not met.
