LAHORE, Sept 3:Four Pakistanis, three Indians and an American qualified for the main draw of the ITF junior tennis championship (boys) at the Bagh-i-Jinnah court on Saturday. With eight matches, the main draw of 32 qualifiers in the main category for boys have been completed.
The girls event has already been completed without holding the qualifying round.
From Pakistan Waqas Malik and Talal Khan qualified after winning the matches while Ghulam Abbas and Mubashar Afridi got byes.
An Indian Vikram Reddz also got bye.
Waqas beat Tariq Butt 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 while Talal ousted Muhammad Murtaza 6-0-6-1.
Chandril Sood (India) beat Saad Mubarik (Pak) 6-2, 6-0 while Lakshid Sood (India) went to full distance to beat Salman Aslam (Pak) 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.
Shan Bukhari (USA) outclassed Ayub Hussain (Pak) 6-2, 6-0 to book a place in the main round. All the 32 players of main draw, both in boys and girls’ category, will sign in on Sunday by 4pm to confirm their participation in the main round, starting from Monday.
The players from India, Malaysia, Thailand, England, United States, Canada and Pakistan had entered the main draw.
