Moj-e-Arab fancied to oblige punters today

By A Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, Sept 3: Moj-e-Arab, the two-year old bay colt, should make amends and should win when the Summer Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

He had to be content with second place twice last month, first going down to Zidane by half length in the Kingree Lodge Performance Cup on Independence Day and then maintained the same slot finishing behind dark filly, Bul Bul, by one and a half length in the last meeting. Both the races were of four furlongs.

In a field of nine horses who will be vying for honours in the four furlong third race for the Kargil Plate, Moj-e-Arab starts as our day’s best and should cross the winning post ahead of chestnut, Symbol Of Victory and Arabian Heart.

Nine races have been chalked out for the day’s programme and the first race begins at 1.00pm.

Nine-year-old mare, Taneez is our fancy for the opening race that features twelve contenders in the five furlong battle. Ridden by Asif Nazeer, she had a fine run by attaining top slot in two back-to-back races in the recent past but was relegated in the Aug 21 meeting. On Sunday, she will be up against strong seven-year-old mare, Tom Cruise and bay mare, Quite Arrival

Eight-year-old dark bay mare, Silver Sweet should make amends for her last defeat at the hands of Sher Garh, by winning honours in the second race. Welcome Pechino and Desperado should fight it out for the places.

The fourth race, drawn over six furlongs, will have fourteen runners in fray, in which four-year-old colt, Blue Breeze, should live up to its reputation. Also in contention will be Countess Mah Again and Order Of The Day.

Arab Hi Arab, three-year-old bay colt, who was beaten to second place by Butter Fly in the last meeting, should run away with top honours in the next race which have ten runners. Arabian Queen and Air Blue should settle for the remaining two places.

Bay horse, Little Sunny, is tipped to dictate terms in the sixth race so is five-year-old chestnut, Lucky View, in the seventh.
