KARACHI: PPP slams killing of its workers

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 29: The Pakistan People’s Party on Monday slammed the government for its alleged involvement in the killing of PPP activists in Jhimpir. In a statement released by the Bilawal House media cell, Taj Haider, Central Information Secretary of the PPP, condemned the “reign of terror let loose by the government in Thatta.” He alleged that Juman Mallah was killed for defying the government and ignoring its threats while working and voting for Awam Dost candidate in the UC. He said that just a few days after another activist, Qasim Sammo, was shot dead in Sakro, Juman Mallah had been stoned to death “by a group of government supporters.” He said that no FIRs of either case had been registered.

He deplored that the state had been taken over by a ‘criminal mafia’ which was using the administrative machinery and resources of the state for crushing people. The mafia was appointing officials with dubious backgrounds on key positions and unleashing its tyranny through such people, he added.

Taj Haider condemned that Nur Hassan Khushak, who had been under suspension for two years for gross misconduct had been reinstated and appointed SHO. “This SHO is registering false and shameful cases against respectable PPP office-bearers and supporters like Dr Wahid Soomro, Aftab Soomro and Luqman Malik,” he alleged.

He demanded that the killers of Qasim Samo and Juman Mallah be apprehended without further delay; false cases be withdrawn; and local body election in Sindh be declared null and void.
