Indian troops kill four in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Indian troops on Sunday killed four militants in a clash along the LoC, the Indian army said. “The militants were killed near the Line of Control by alert army soldiers,” Vijay Batra, the Indian army’s spokesman in Kashmir said.

The gun battle erupted after the militants ignored their call to surrender in district Kupwara, he added.

In other violence, a militant and a civilian died during a clash in the adjacent district of Baramulla on Saturday, police said, adding that two security force personnel were wounded during the fighting.—AFP
