KARACHI, Aug 28: Although Urdu can meet the requirements of modern ways of expression it has not been accorded its due place in society. This was stated by Dr Aftab Ahmad at a function organized by the teachers’ association of the Federal Urdu University of Science, Science and Technology in collaboration with the Anjuman Taraqea Urdu to commemorate the 44th death anniversary of Baba-i-Urdu Maulvi Abdul Haq.
The Vice-Chancellor, Dr Syed Iqbal Mohsin, said Maulvi Abdul Haq had led a full life, and passed on his mantle to Jamiluddin Aali.
He hoped that the university would soon become a respected centre of higher learning.
He said Urdu’s future was resplendent in Pakistan, adding that the establishment of the Urdu University was its proof.
Dr Aslam Farrukhi said that Maulvi Abdul Haq was a strong-willed person who gave a new dimension to Urdu research.
Mohammad Ahmad Sabzwari, Syed Azfar Rizvi, Shahzad Ahmad, Prof Badaruzzamn, Prof Asghar Ali, and Prof Salman D Mohammad also spoke.
