KARACHI, Aug 24: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan on Wednesday presented cash awards to the boxers for their fine performances in Asian junior boxing championship held in Karachi.

Rs50,000 each were presented to gold medal winners Mir Waiz and Ali Muhammad while Rs25,000 each were given to silver medallists Nisar Khan and Dur Muhammad. A cheque of Rs500,000 was also presented to the officials of Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF). The officials included Prof. Anwar Chowdhry, other PBF officials and Sindh Boxing Association.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Governor praised the performance of the boxers in various international events at home and abroad.

He announced holding Governor’s Gold Cup national boxing every year for the promotion of the sport.

He appreciated the showing of the Sindh boxers at national and international levels.

PBF chief lauded the role of President Pervez Musharraf and Sindh Sports Minister Qamar Mansoor for patronizing the fist fighting in the country.—APP
