Pacer Rauf inspires Zone-II Greens

KARACHI, Aug 24: Medium-pacer Rauf Nazir captured nine for 43 to help Zone-II Greens qualify for the semifinals of the KCCA Under-17 Inter-zonal cricket tournament with a comfortable 10-wicket victory over Zone-VII Whites on Tuesday.

Batting first in the quarterfinal tie at the TMC ground, Zone-VII Whites were sent packing for 78 all out in the 25th over.

Zone-II Greens knocked off the required runs in just 18 overs.

Meanwhile, off-spinner Osama Shah grabbed six for 18 as Zone-III Whites also moved into the semifinals with a 61-run defeat of Zone-V Whites at the Landhi Gymkhana ground.

Arsalan Hussain struck 12 boundaries in scoring 83 to help Zone-III Whites make 218 in 49.4 overs. Off-spinner Shaharyar Zafar took six for 51.

Zone-V Whites, in reply, scored 161 in 40 overs. Zeeshan Rahim excelled with 72, including 11 hits to the fence.
