KARACHI, Aug 11: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Thursday alleged that those giving remarks against the hijab wanted to do away with Islam from the country.

MMA MNAs Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, Abdul Sattar Afghani and Laeeq Khan in a joint statement strongly condemned remarks of MQM chief Altaf Hussein about the hijab, which the latter gave while addressing a general workers convention in Bahadurabad on Wednesday.

The MMA legislators asked the MQM chief to stop criticising Islamic values and teachings, ulema and madressahs.

They termed madressahs as “the largest social welfare organisations of the country” spreading the light of education in society.—PPI
