Plan okayed to allow students’ visit to SC

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Tuesday approved a plan to allow school and college students to visit the Supreme Court, says an official statement.

Under the programme, being launched from August 14, the students will be facilitated to watch the court proceedings and will be given a guided tour of the Supreme Court building including court rooms, auditorium and library.

At the end of the guided tour, the registrar or any other officer of the court will give them a briefing on the history of the apex court, its jurisdiction, composition, functioning, the constitution of Pakistan and rule of law.

The purpose of the programme is to make the society law- conscious and to encourage the members to adhere to the rule of law.

The visits will be pre-arranged and scheduled in advance on the request of the heads of educational institutions.
