Nadra signs MoU for payment of bills

ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the payment of bills was signed between National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and telecom companies here at on Tuesday.

According to a press release issued here by the Nadra, the MoU was signed by Nadra Chairman Brig (retired) Saleem Ahmad Moeen and Iain Williams, the representative of telecom company.

Now, the consumers of these utility service provider companies can get the pin number directly through these kiosks without manually purchasing scratch cards. The purchase of pin number cards will be done online through cash payment and the system will give an automated pin number to the consumer.

The online bill payment machine i.e. “Kiosk” is designed to enable consumers to pay utility bills and perform electronic banking following proper authentication from biometric and online verification systems using the computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC). In the first phase, the kiosks will be installed at Nadra‘s Swift Registration Centres (NSRCs) and subsequently at customer care centres of utility service providers.

The machine will be installed in clusters of two or three and each machine can handle 300 to 350 customers in 24 hours.NADRA intends to install 500 such machines at tehsil level also with in few months. A person can use this system by registering himself at any NSRC and he can also nominate some one else at the time of registration to pay the utility bill on his behalf.
