MIRPURKHAS: Rise in flour prices

Published August 7, 2005

MIRPURKHAS, Aug 6: Flour prices have registered an increase in Mirpurkhas as a result of the delay in fixation of wheat price by the government. The government has not announced wheat price while the chakki and flour mills owners were buying wheat at a higher rate from local market and selling it for Rs14 and Rs15 per kilogram.

The Sindh Food Department had not yet framed a policy as to how to provide wheat to the chakki and flour mill owners at a subsidized rate to check the flour price rise.

The District Food Department officials said that the government was framing the policy for supply of wheat to the chakki and flour mills which would be implemented by the end of this month.
