US envoy hopes LB polls to be held fairly

ISLAMABAD, Aug 3: US Ambassador Ryan C Crocker called on the chief election commissioner, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, here on Wednesday and hoped that the forthcoming local government elections would be held in a fair and transparent manner. The chief election commissioner briefed the US ambassador about the arrangements made by the Election Commission for holding the elections in two phases. He explained at length the steps taken to conduct elections. The secretary for the election commission, Kunwar Muhammad Dilshad, was also present during the meeting.
