Ex-policeman’s wife killed as rivals clash


SAHIWAL, Aug 3: The wife of a retired police officer was allegedly killed while her two sons and their friend sustained injuries over an election dispute here on Wednesday in Chichawatni. Reports said seven supporters - Shahid, Nadim Fahad and others - of UC-87 nazim candidate Javed Iqbal allegedly pelted stones at the opponent candidate, Rana Gulzar Ahmed, and his aides. As a result of which Nazeeran was killed on the spot while her sons, Ejaz, Tariq, and their friend Liaquat sustained injuries.

The police said the murder took place on the issue of eve-teasing while the victim party claimed that the attack was carried out by Javed Iqbal’s supporters over election rivalry. However, no arrest was reported. — Correspondent
