Young Civil Quarters move into next round

PESHAWAR, July 12: Young Civil Quarters advanced to next round after a 4-0 victory over Combined Stars in the District Inter-club hockey championship at Lala Ayub Stadium on Tuesday.

Right from the outset Civil Quarters took possession of the ball and made some combined moves, which resulted in Mumtaz slamming a perfect goal through field attempt in the 5th minute.

Skipper Zahid netted a fine penalty corner past an astonished goalkeeper Zahoor in the 13th minute to make it 2-0.

Inside-left Mumtaz again struck a powerful, his second, goal to ratchet up the lead to 3-0. Nouman converted a penalty corner rebound to make it 4-0 and seal the fate of the match in the dying moments.

In the other match, Palosi Club thrashed Bana Mari 6-0 in a one-sided affair.

Asghar opened the account in the 10th minute and Shauja followed it up with another in the 16th minute to push the early lead to 2-0. Asghar again slammed his second goal in the 28th minute to make it 3-0.

Palosi Club struck three more goals through Shujaullah, Asif and Daud Khan.—APP
