MIRPURKHAS, July 12: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that legal action will be taken against farmers and irrigation officials involved in water theft. Talking to reporters in Umerkot on Monday night, he dispelled rumours that Rangers are being withdrawn from water channel monitoring. Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah and adviser Faqeer Jadam Mangrio were also present on the occasion. He said the election commission was responsible to hold elections and it was suppose to take notice of irregularities during polling.
He said candidates for nazims and naib nazims for most of UCs had been finalized and remaining would be completed through consensus with the coalition partners.
He announced a grant of Rs10,000 to Asadullah Hussaini, son of late journalist of Umerkot Abdul Majeed Hussaini.
STRIKE: Over 150 employees of the Pakistan railways working on meter gauge railway track between Mirpurkhas and Khokhropar took out a procession from the Mirpurkhas railway station on Tuesday to protest against non-payment of TA/DA and other facilities.
They were carrying banners and placards.
They marched on the main roads and reached the press club where they raised slogans against the railways authorities.
They said Junaid Qureshi, the divisional superintendent had promised to pay them TA/DA but still they were deprived of it.
They demanded that the chairman of the railways, project director and the DS railways should take notice of corruption.
PARAMEDICS: The president of the Sindh Paramedical Staff Association, Nazeer Detho, has said the bureaucracy is responsible for delaying approval of the service structure of the paramedics.
In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, he said health adviser Malik Faisal Gabol had promised to approve the demands of paramedics on March 7.
He said the secretary health had summoned the leaders of joint action committee on July 13 in Karachi to discuss the matter.
