KARACHI: Jehangir Road reopens for traffic

KARACHI, July 12: The 1.35 kilometre long Jehangir Road’s second track (from Tin Hatti bridge to Guru Mandir) was re-opened for vehicular traffic on Tuesday. Work on the road had started on Oct 25 at a cost of Rs 35.265m and it was scheduled to be completed by July 31, but keeping in view of motorists’ sufferings, the Sindh Adviser Wasim Akhtar got it re-opened 20 days ahead of schedule.

Though the road has been re-opened for vehicular traffic after completion of its carpeting work, its remaining works, such as electrification, will be completed within a month.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mr Akhtar said the government wants early completion of development projects and all ongoing development works will be completed without any impediment, adds APP.

The adviser said that people had been facing problems since long due to digging of roads and traffic system too had been suffering.

He issued directives to the concerned authorities for continuous monitoring of other projects and their completion as per stipulated timeframe as well as maintaining their quality.

He pointed out that federal and provincial governments are providing billions of rupees for development of the city and advantages of these efforts and funds must reach the grossroot level.
