SRINAGAR, July 7: Ten people were killed in fresh violence in Occupied Kashmir, officials said on Thursday. Indian troops shot dead three Kashmiri militants, army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Vijay Batra said.
He said the militants were killed during a gunbattle.
Batra said Indian troops also on Thursday shot dead four more militants in two separate encounters in the districts of Anantnag and Kupwara.
Police said suspected militants shot dead the son of a ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member and another civilian in southern Anantnag district late on Wednesday.
Police recovered on Thursday the body of an unidentified 10-year-old boy whose throat has been slit in central Budgam district.
Kashmiri fighters also attacked a paramilitary camp housed in a hotel in Srinagar late on Wednesday.
“There were no casualties but the attack sparked panic in the residential areas around the hotel,” a police spokesman said.
The deaths came after militants attacked on Wednesday the motorcade of a minister.—AFP
