Villagers injure constable, Fesco men

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, July 6: Villagers on Wednesday injured a constable and Fesco officials in Baroon Chah Kikriwala village near Kamalia. The Fesco team led by SDO Mudassar Khan was installing a transformer for the tubewell. In the meanwhile, dozens of men and women of the locality came there and made hostage the constable and Fesco officials. Later, villagers injured constable Muhammad Sharif and some Fesco employees.

The reinforcement was called out from Kamalia Sadar police station and Jakhar police post which rescued the constable and Fesco officials.

A source said that villagers were opposing the crossing over of electricity wires from their farmlands.

Sadar police have registered a case against more than two dozen men and women.

RECOVERED: Looted imported tyres, auto spareparts, airconditioners, refrigerators, TV sets and other goods worth over Rs15 million were recovered on Tuesday night from a Gojra godown in a raid by Muzaffargarh and Toba police parties.

Dacoits had snatched a container near Muzaffargarh some three weeks back which was carrying goods from Karachi seaport to Lahore.

On a tip-off, the police raided the godown at Gojra and seized looted goods from three accused of Gojra — Ghulam Sarwar, Abdul Shakoor and Qasim Ali.
