Man dies in car-train collision

GUJRANWALA, July 3: A man was killed while a taxi driver sustained serious injuries in a collision between a car and an Express Train at the railway crossing near Atawa on Sunday.

Reports said the train was on its way to Peshawar from Karachi when it struck against the taxi which was crossing the track. As a result of which Arif Jamal died on the spot while driver Mustanser But was shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore in a critical condition.

PROTEST: PML-N leader S.A Hameed has protested the division of Gujranwala city into four sectors — Nandipur, Aroop, Khiali Shahpur and Qila Dedar Singh.

The PML-N leader registered his protest while talking to journalists here on Sunday.

Mr Hameed threatened to file a writ petition in a court if the Punjab government did not withdraw its notification.

PPP MPA Chaudhry Zahid Pervaiz, Riaz Bajwa, former Gujranwala chamber of commerce of industry president and some elites of the city were also present on the occasion.
