No salary for Grade-IV employees for 7 months

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, July 3: The government employees of BPS-IV have not received their salary for last seven months and it is still not clear when they will get it. Eight watchmen appointed seven month ago and grade-IV employees in the offices of district agriculture officer and soil conservation officer are still waiting for their salary.

According to their appointment letters they were appointed on December 12, 2004 vide order No 42739/EDO/Agriculture of the EDO agriculture.

The order said that consequent upon the approval/recommendation made in the departmental selection committee held on May 4, 2004 in the office of the DCO and the ban relaxed by the chief minister in a letter issued in April 2003, they were given appointments.

All these candidates belong to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal as local legislators had recommended their names, said sources.

They were appointed purely on contract basis initially for a three-year term extendable subject to their satisfactory record and performance.

The finance department, the sources said, refused to pay to these employees, saying that prior to their appointments the concerned officials failed to acquire permission from it.
