KARACHI, July 3: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has termed the hike in fuel prices as an anti-people decision and alleged that the rulers were least concerned about the sufferings of the poor masses.

The MMA MNAs, Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, Abdul Sattar Afghani and Muhammad Laeeq Khan, said this in their joint statement on Sunday.

Condemning the increasing price hike, lawlessness and rise in POL prices, they alleged that the rulers had failed in providing economic relief and security to the masses.

They alleged that terrorists and anti-social elements had the patronage of the ruling quarters.

They MMA parliamentarians said that serial killings of ulema and political activists, terrorism, and regular price hikes had made the lives of people miserable.

While on the other hand rulers were spending billions of rupees for their own comfort and luxury, they alleged.

“The rulers are constantly raising the salaries of and giving others perks to ministers and advisers, and were very much bent on snatching the last piece of bread from the mouth of the poor,” they said.

The MMA leaders said the whole nation was protesting against these anti-people steps, but the government was turning a deaf ear to all these protests.

They alleged that both the people and Parliament were being ignored while taking vital decisions, and claimed that Parliament had no role in policymaking.—PPI
