KARACHI: MQM criticizes POL price hike

KARACHI, July 2: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee on Saturday expressed concern over the increase in POL and gas prices on the first day of he new financial year. The meeting chaired by deputy convenor Dr Farooq Sattar held that their party could not support the decisions that burdened the poor and the downtrodden.

The coordination committee was of the view that with the increase in petroleum prices, the cost of other essential items and transportation would also soar, and the common would be adversely affected.

It urged the President and Prime Minister to reverse the increase in POL and gas prices, and give subsidy to overcome price hikes.

The meeting also demanded that oil and gas companies should take notice of the ground realities of Pakistan and its economic conditions, and play their role in getting rid of poverty and economic recovery and prosperity.
