By Our Correspondent

LAHORE, June 30: Mohammad Yousuf will become the first district and sessions judge and Shaikh Mohammad Saeed the senior civil judge when the new district at Nankana Sahib will start functioning from Friday (today). Both the judicial officers have been serving as officers on special duty at the high court’s principal seat in Lahore.

Their appointment at Nankana Sahib was ordered by Chief Justice Iftikhar Husain Chaudhry and a notification to this effect was issued here on Thursday. They were directed to take over the subordinate judiciary of Punjab’s 35th district.

Most of the other judicial staff has since been appointed at the new district and other vacancies are likely to be filled during the month.

Meanwhile, the LHC ordered the transfer of additional district and sessions judge Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry from Lahore to Vehari in place of Muhammad Nawaz, who has been posted in Lahore.

According to another notification, ADSJ Mian Muhammad Anwar Nazir from Faisalabad has been transferred to Jhang. They will start working from Friday (today).

Through another notification, disciplinary proceedings against civil judge Rana Muhammad Akram were dropped. The action against the civil judge was dispensed with because he has attained the superannuation age and since retired. He was placed under suspension after proceedings started against him.
