RAHIM YAR KHAN, June 21: A robber was killed and another arrested during an ‘encounter’ here on Monday night in Sadiqabad tehsil. On a tip-off, the police raided their hideout at Garhi Sher Muhammad. On seeing the police, the robbers opened fire which was returned. As a result of which Shaukat Lathani was killed and Sher Dil was arrested. Their accomplice Nooru managed to escape.
DSP Pir Muhammad Shah said the gangsters were involved in many robbery and kidnap-for-ransom cases.
BURIED ALIVE: A labourer was buried alive and three others sustained injuries here on Tuesday near Sadiqabad.
Reports said Zulfiqar, Imam Bukush, Altaf and Sanaullah were laying an underground sewer pipe when a wall caved in.
Crane operator Arif with the help of other people dragged them out after one-hour efforts. Zulfiqar, 25, a resident of Obaro, Sindh died while Imam Bukush, Altaf and Sanaullah were discharged from hospital after medical treatment.
