KARACHI, June 12: A large number of people flocked to the Expo Centre on University Road on Sunday where “All about lifestyles”, an exhibition organized by the Dawn Group of Newspapers, entered its third and last day. At least 150 exhibitors taking part in the shop displayed their products on 145 stalls in the four halls of the Expo Centre.
A number of volunteers guided people around the halls where exhibitors — cellphone firms, consumer electronics companies, interior designers, paycard phone companies, designers dresses outlets, Internet service providers, IT-related products and services providers, home appliances manufacturers, banks, financial services institutions, travel and tourism companies, fashion designers and cosmetics manufacturers, publishers — put their products on display.
The Young World pavilion was a hit with the children. So was the food street where exhausted shoppers had Nihari and deep-fried chicken pieces so that they could do more shopping with renewed enthusiasm. Shoppers could be seen walking to the car park behind the Expo Centre halls carrying plastic bags bursting at the seams.
In addition to looking at rare birds and pets which occupied a pavilion near Hall IV, children also had a great time taking part in what the organizers called “Feline Fiesta.”
As part of an environment awareness campaign, the organizers sold T-shirts whose proceeds would go to the Save The Turtle Project and would be employed to build hatcheries at Hawkesbay.
The Sindh governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad, paid a visit to the Expo Centre on Sunday evening. Admiring the products on display, he expressed pleasure over the large turnout of visitors at the venue.
