KARACHI: KWSB to improve water supply to apartments

KARACHI, June 7: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board will take steps for solving the water supply and sewerage problems of flats and simplify the water tax recovery system. This was stated by KWSB Managing Director Brig Iftekhar Hyder while addressing a representative meeting of the Federation of Flats Association here on Monday. They were invited by him for discussing their problems.

Deputy Managing Directors Suleman Chandio, Israr Zaidi, Chief Engineer Asoodo Mal, Secretary Water Board Mahmood Qadir and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Brig Hyder informed that the water board had decided that the water connections of flats which had made 50 per cent payment would not be severed. However, connections of defaulters would be disconnected.

He told the delegation that the KWSB had signed a memorandum with the ABAD whereby the ABAD would make provision of water connections separately for each unit constructed in future so that in case of non-payment of water tax, the connection of the defaulting unit alone was disconnected.

The KWSB MD also asked the office-bearers of the flats associations that in case they had small size water connection and they wanted a bigger connection, they should submit an application to the KWSB MD for this purpose. — APP
