KARACHI, May 27: Three persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Friday. Twenty-five-year-old motor mechanic Mohammad Ali was crossing the main Mauripur Road when an unknown speeding vehicle knocked him down.

Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for post mortem examination. At Superhighway, a doctor died in an accident when a trailer crushed his vehicle late Thursday night.

Police said Dr Javed Anwer, 60, was coming to Karachi from Hyderabad when a speeding trailer hit his car.

Police said that victim died on the spot. Police shifted the body to the Abbasi Hospital for legal formalities.

In another accident, a middle-aged man died and his associate was critically injured in New Karachi.

Police said that two men on a motorcycle (KCI-2728) were knocked down by a speeding dumper (LSB-3305) near Saleem Centre. One of the victims died on the spot while his friend who had suffered serious injures was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

People present at the spot tried to set the dumper on fire, but timely police presence prevented the attempt.

Police arrested the dumper driver identified as Dilawar.

The wounded was referred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was stated to be in a serious condition.

Police said both the victim’s could not be identified.
