Shaharyar, Kashif sparkle

KARACHI, May 25: A superb century by Shaharyar Zafar and a six-wicket haul by Kashif Habib enabled Naveena Industries to overwhelm Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) by 175 runs in the 14th KCCA Inter-departmental cricket tournament at the KCCA Stadium on Tuesday.

Shaharyar struck an unbeaten 113 with 10 boundaries to power his side to 214 for six in 40 overs. Kashif Habib then produced a devastating burst to snap up six for 18 as CAA were shot out for just 39 in 13 overs. Fellow paceman Umair Mirza claimed four for 20.

Dewan Farooq Motors, meanwhile, secured a six-wicket victory over UBL Karachi at the latter’s ground to top Group ‘D’.

Dewan Farooq Motors beat UBL Karachi by six wickets.

UBL KARACHI 106 in 27.2 overs (Asif Siddiqui 30; Abdul Hafeez 3-5, Nasir Owais 2-10, Mansoor Baig 2-15); DEWAN FAROOQ MOTORS 107-4 in 25.3 overs (Matiur Rahman 54 not out, Salman Khan 24, Zahid Ghauri 20; Irfan Bashir 3-23).

Naveena Industries by CAA by 175 runs.
