GUJRANWALA, May 13: The business community and income tax payers have urged the income tax department to clear their refund cases. At a meeting held here on Friday, participants said the income tax department imposed a ban on clearing their refund cases for showing its better performance.

They said the business community was facing severe financial problems owing to the non-clearance of refund cases. They demanded that the federal government and the CBR should not involve banks in clearing refund cases. When contacted, a senior income tax officer said the ban imposed from the current month would remain in force till June.

LOOTED: Armed robbers deprived 10 people of their motorcycles and valuables in different strikes in Garjakh and Sabzi Mandi areas during the last 24 hours.

Reports said that robbers intercepted Abdul Bashir, Adeel Ahmad, Rizwan, Dr Akhter Butt, Shafiq, Ali Raza, Ashraf, Ashfaq Ahmad, Ashraf Chohan and Ijaz Ahmad in various parts of the city and deprived them of their bikes and valuables.

Police have registered cases against unidentified accused and are investigating.
