Khan has assured the organization’s employees that their rights would be protected at all costs, even after privatization of the company. He invited the employees to submit their proposals as to how the rights protection issue should be taken up with the Privatization Commission.

Mr Khan was responding to queries of the employees regarding post-privatization period, at the PTCL Headquarters here on Tuesday.

He said initially nine companies had shown interest in acquiring strategic control of the PTCL. Out of total, seven companies have opted to go through the process, he added. The PTCL president said the strategic buyer would expand and enhance the company’s network.

He said the enhancement would pave way for creating chances of promotions and new employment opportunities. He said the PTCL employees were professionally trained for the new technology.

Mr Khan said the company purchasing the PTCL would have to hire local workforce, ensuring that the future of employees was bright.

He said modalities regarding retention of employees even after the privatization were being finalized.
