KARACHI: Khuhro crticizes speaker

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, May 9: Leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro on Monday accused Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah of muffling the voice of the opposition. Addressing a news conference after the session, Mr Khuhro also accused the chief minister of being indulged in corruption.

He said that whenever treasury benches were cornered, the speaker always came to their rescue by diverting the direction of debate.

He claimed that the chief minister was involved in the demolition of old goths in Karachi which had been inhabited by Sindhi people for generations. He termed it ‘a mode of corruption’ that the chief minister was doing nothing against aliens but was trying to usurp 55 acres of land in Malir and elsewhere by demolishing old settlements.

He also accused the chief minister of misleading people whether it was the case of releasing contaminated water of Manchar in the Indus or denying jobs to many while inducting 800 others.

Mr Khuhro said that if the two protesting teachers, who had burnt themselves, died as a result of the burns, the chief minister would be responsible for their death.

He said that the government was trying to implicate Ghulam Qadir Chandio in fabricated cases and his house and other places were being raided.

He also expressed concern over deteriorating law and order situation the country.
