Partial Iraqi cabinet sworn in

BAGHDAD, May 3: Members of Iraq’s new cabinet, led by Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari, were sworn in one by one on Tuesday after months of haggling over the government make-up. The crucial oil and defence ministries still had not been attributed when the cabinet list was read out during the ceremony. The partial cabinet list comprises 30 names, including those of Jaafari and his two deputy prime ministers. The new interim government takes over from Iyad Allawi’s US-appointed administration .—AFP
