Two-month training camp for Zamans

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 3: Pakistan squash coach Jamshed Gul is confident that a two-month training camp in England for top players Mansoor Zaman and Shahid Zaman would do them a world of good. “We will be focussing on specific areas of play and the two will also be involved in matches against such players as Lee Beachill, Adrian Grant and Simon Parke during their stay there,” Jamshed said on Tuesday.

Jamshed, who will also be accompanying the players to Nottingham where the team will be based, said that the decision to train in England was a good step taken by the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF). “It will help us prepare for some major tournaments that are coming up this year.”

The tournaments slated for this year include the Pakistan Open, Qatar Classic, the Al-Ahram Championship, Hong Kong Cathay Pacific Open and the British Open besides other competitions.

The party is expected to leave any time after May 8 when the training camp in Islamabad temporarily comes to a close as the rest of the players head for Abbottabad to compete in the PSF Cup.

The PSF is said to be in the process of looking for a new coach in the absence of Jamshed.
