LAHORE, May 3: Four goals by Junaid Ahmed helped Four Tigers beat Black Berets by a narrow margin 7 1/2-7 in the Low Goal Club polo tournament on Tuesday. The winners won by virtue of a half-goal handicap. After a neck and neck contest, Tigers held on to handicap margin difference (2 1/2-2) in the first chukker. Saeed Aslam Khan, who scored two goals for the losers, slammed a field goal after receiving a pass from Naveed Sheikh. Tigers struck back quickly scoring back-to-back goals.
Junaid scored his first goal converting a 40-yard penalty hit. Abdul Haye Mehta scored a field goal on solo effort. Taimur Ali Malik, who excelled for the losing side with a tally of four goals, banged home his first. The close fight continued in the second chukker but the winners managed to come out with 3 1/2-3 lead.
Haider Ali Baig scored a field goal with a back hand shot for the winners. Saeed Aslam struck his second for the losers crowning a field attempt.
In the third chukker, Berets went ahead 6-4 1/2 scoring three goals while conceding one. Taimur scored two goals while Col. Talha Saeed a goal. For the winners Junaid netted his second goal.
But Tigers overcame the lead in the fourth chukker to seal the fate of the match. Junaid pumped in two goals while Bilal Haye a goal.
Taimur fired his fourth goal for the losers but only to lose a close contest.
