KARACHI: KWSB expands drive against defaulters

KARACHI, May 3: After terminating water supply to 200 consumers in Saddar and Jamshed towns, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has announced to further expand its operation against defaulters of Rs6 billion dues.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the KWSB stated that despite non-payment of water bills it had not increased its tariff and thus it failed to provide service to more people. The infrastructure construction and development of water and sewerage system was carried out on the basis of revenue collection, it added.

In this regard, KWSB Managing Director Brig Iftikhar Haider had issued directive to DMD Revenue Suleman Chandio for immediate measures to recover the dues and issue duplicate bills in case a consumer had failed to receive his/her bill.

The KWSB has directed such individuals to receive their bills from consumer centre at Awami Markaz and KWSB offices in Liaquatabad Super Market, Jamshed Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Tax Office and the offices adjacent to Islamia College and Civic Centre.

The campaign against defaulters would continue till June 30, the statement added. — PPI
