LAHORE, April 29: Vaqas Ahmed fired a fine card of four- under-par-68 to emerge as the first day’s leader of the 28th Punjab amateur golf championships at the Lahore Gymkhana course on Friday. Vaqas, a member of the Pakistan team and top seed of the tournament had seven birdies including a hat trick. After having a birdie each at 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th holes, Vaqas completed a hat trick saving a stroke each at the 16th, 17th and the 18th to end the day on fine note.
He lost stroke at the 4th, 6th and the 12th.
At two-under-par-70, Adil Jehangir, another member of the Pakistan team was trailing at the second spot.
Adil had four birdies including a lone birdie on the front nine at the 9th hole and then he went to make a hat trick when earned a stroke each at the 15th, 16th and the 17th. He bogeyd at the 10th and the18th.
At 74, Omer Salamat, Imran Ahmad and Danyal Jehangir were tied at third position.
